A New Day
The New York Mets have a new owner, as MLB approved the sale to Steve Cohen. Cohen is now the richest owner in MLB, worth an estimated $14 Billion. The cost of buying the Mets was estimated at $2.4 Billion—the sale ends40 years of Fred Wilpon being involved in the franchise’s daily operation. Over the last decade, Wilpon’s finances have been compromised by his involvement with Bernie Madoff. Early indications are that Cohen is willing to spend freely to help the Mets win a World Series.
