Back in the Game
After a week on the sidelines, the Philadelphia Phillies finally got a chance to play Monday night as they began the four-game home and home series against the New York Yankees that they were initially supposed to play last week. The Phillies were a collateral victim to the Miami Marlins COVID outbreak. After starting the season in Philadelphia, the Marlins have not played a game since as 19 members of the team were diagnosed with COVID. Out of caution, the Phillies were also shut down as the St. Louis Cardinals are dealing with their outbreak, the Phillies who had just two staff members test positive. The Phillies had to face one of the top pitchers in the game in Gerrit Cole, who got his third win of the season as the Yankees won 6-3. Tuesday’s game for the Phillies and Yankees has been postponed due to Tropical Storm Isaias with a doubleheader in Philadelphia on Wednesday. The Miami Marlins meanwhile are expected to resume their season on Tuesday at Camden Yards against the Baltimore Orioles.
