Cinci Sees Dos A Cero
Super-Sub Christian Pulisic scored the go-ahead goal in the 74th minute of a World Cup qualifying game for the United States. Mexico controlled the game, and tempo in the first half forcing Manchester City keeper Zack Steffen into two key saves.
However, El Tri were unable to capitalize on their slick and pacey first half play. USA pressed Mexico, and pushed them back in the 2nd half, forcing the visiting side into mistakes. The game was sealed off when center mid-fielder Weston McKennie slotted in the bottom right hand corner to make it 2 – 0 for the red, white, and blue.
The win sees the U.S. national team take over 1st place in the CONCACAF standings ahead of Mexico on goal difference.
