Championship Sunday brought about two games that were played very differently. After the Eagles convincing win over the injured plagued 49ers. The Bengals and Chiefs squared off in Arrowhead Stadium.
In a rematch of last year’s AFC Title game that saw the underdog Bengals go to the big game, this time it was Kansas City who emerged victorious, as they squeaked by Cincinnati, 23-20.
In a hotly contested affair that was played in frigid temperatures, the game was a defensive battle. Even with multiple offensive line injuries, Joe Burrow was still able to make enough plays to find his stellar receivers, Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins a combined 12 times, including an incredible 4th down completion to Chase.
However, Mahomes and Kelce found a way once again to advance. The referees played a role as well, as unfortunate as it was, the Bengals will feel hard done by with certain calls on the field, but a roughing the passer decision set up Harrison Butker for the game-winner, and he delivered.
Both K.C. and Philly will now gain as much rest as possible going into Super Bowl Weekend. With both teams earning their way into the title game, it’s sure to be a thrilling contest.
