On Friday night the L.A. Kings continued their positive play in a resurgent season for the franchise, as they beat the Panthers 4-3, and remained atop of the Pacific division in the Western Conference.
The win is L.A.’s third straight, yielding in an overall record of 28-17-6. Adrian Kempe provided a short-handed goal, and an assist for the winning home team, with Pheonix Copley recording 41 saves as well. The Kings early start with two goals in the first period proved to stave off Florida’s late run, as Brandon Montour lit the lamp for the Panthers making it 3-2 in the second period.
The Panthers have struggled with injury as of late, and will welcome the All-Star break, which will be played on home ice.
Next up for the Kings will be a massive road test, as they’ll travel to the east coast to take on the Tampa Bay Lightning. While it’s still relatively early in the season, it could be a potential Cup Final as both teams have played well thus far.
