Peaking Peacocks Reach Elite Eight
On Friday night the cinderella story continued for the small school out of Jersey City, as 15 seed Saint Peter’s reached the Elite Eight for the first time in the college’s history.
Moreover, it is the first time in NCAA history that a 15 seed has reached a regional final. The Peacock’s journey has traveled through No. 2 seed Kentucky, No. 7 seed Murray State, and last night the No. 3 seed Purdue Boilermakers.
Darryl Banks III’s led the way for the underdog with 14 points as they beat Purdue 67-64, in a game that saw Purdue amass 15 turnovers. Future NBA lottery pick, Jaden Ivey had a rough night shooting 4-12 from the field, tallying 9 points and 8 rebounds for the BIG10 school.
Saint Peter’s run will continue as they will now face the No. 8 seed North Carolina Tar Heels on Sunday at 5:05pm for an opportunity to reach the Final Four.
