Pujols Makes History, Cards Win
Great American Ball Park started off with a rain delay, and ended with history being made. Albert Pujols homered off of Ross Detweiler in the third inning, and in doing so hit a home run off the 450th different pitcher, a new major league record.
Tyler O’Neill also hit two dingers for St. Louis in the 13-4 route by the NL Central leaders, who now hold a 6 game lead over the Brewers. Miles Mikolas only made it through 4.1 innings and gave up 4 earned runs, but the Cards’ offense proved potent enough to get through the struggling place Reds.
The 3 Game series will continue on Tuesday as Dakota Hudson will start for the Cardinals, and Justin Dunn is set to take the bump for Cincinnati.
