In what was essentially a must win game for the San Diego Padres on Wednesday, they beat division foe, in the Dodgers by a score of 5-3.

Dodgers’ lefty, Clayton Kershaw gave up 3 runs over 5 innings of work, including a solo homer to Manny Machado in the 1st inning. Kershaw’s counterpart, in Yu Darvish also went 5 innings and allowed 3 runs, but grabbed the win. It’s the second quality start Darvish has provided the Padres this postseason.

Jake Cronenworth put the icing on the cake for San Diego, as he tacked on an insurance run in the 8th inning, in the form of a solo homer. With the series all level now at 1-1, it will now move to Petco Park. The Padres will play their first game in front of their home crowd on Friday night.
