On Wednesday night Leody Taveras carried the underachieving Rangers past the 1st place Astros with 5 runs batted in.
Cy Young candidate, Justin Verlander gave Houston 6 innings allowing 3 runs. Texas did enough to hang in the game and send it to the 10th inning, there in which is opened up for the away team. Scoring 5 runs in the extra inning, Marcus Simien and Corey Seager also contributed with an RBI a piece.
The loss is Houston’s third over the last five games. The Astros still have a 10.5 game lead over the Mariners who’ve been able to stay within a possible puncher’s chance of the AL’s World Series representative last year. The series will continue today with a day game commencing at 2:10pm ET.
