Tiz the Winner
Heavily favored Tiz, the Law who was listed at 4-5 won the Belmont Stakes on Saturday by a wide margin. Like all of sports, the Triple Crown and horse racing were affected by the COVID 19 pandemic. The usual rowdy New York crowds were absent as the Belmont Stakes. Ordinarily, the final jewel in the triple crown was the first, with the Kentucky Derby slated for September 5th and the Preakness on October 3rd. The Belmont Stakes was shortened from its usual mile and a half marathon to a mile and one-eighth. Tiz the Law ridden by Manuel Franco and trained Barclay Tagg is the first New York-bred horse to win the Belmont stakes since 1882. Tiz the Law finished near four lengths ahead of Dr. Post, while Max Player finished third.
