The NHL began a weekend of games in Lake Tahoe. With COVID protocols still preventing full stadiums, the use of a traditional stadium series outdoor game was not possible this season. Instead, this year the games will be played on the golf course at Lake Tahoe in its picturesque beauty. The setting ended up too perfect as the sun was bright and hurting players’ eyes, while the sun made the ice unplayable. After the Colorado Avalanche took a 1-0 lead in the first period, the game was postponed several hours so light could be hauled in and the game could be finished at night. The setting was still perfect as Colorado defeated the Vegas Golden Knights 3-2.
