The New Jersey Devils got off to a hot start in Monday night’s game with the Maple Leafs. Behind Jesper Boquist’s goal and assist, the Devil’s had a 3 goal first period, and led 4-2 going into the third.
New Jersey came into the contest having dropped 4 straight games, playing Toronto without their manage as well due to personal reasons. Toronto is third in the Atlantic division, and with All-Star Auston Matthews, are never out of the game. Matthews completed his 5th career hattrick on the night, as the Maple Leafs scored 4 goals in the third period.
The 6-4 loss keeps New Jersey at the bottom of the Metropolitan division. Toronto is in the hunt to make the playoffs, and have now won 4 straight games.
