1949: Sensing the AAFC was about to fold, Ted Collins owner of the Boston Yanks sought for permission to move his franchise to New York. In a move that can be considered somewhat dubious Collins officially folded the Yanks and was given a new team called the New York Bulldogs, claiming the Yanks as a tax write off. The Bulldogs were coached by Charley Ewart and shared the Polo Grounds with the New York Giants and lost their first game to the Philadelphia Eagles 7-0 on September 22nd. A week later they would lose their first meeting with the Giants 38-14. The Bulldogs would drop their first five games, before earning a 14-14 tie against the Washington Redskins. A week later in a rematch with the Giants, the New York Bulldogs would get their first win, 31-24. It would also be the Bulldogs only win as they lost their final five games and finished with a record 1-10-1.

1950: With the collapse of the AAFC, the New York Bulldogs become the New York Yanks and move to Yankee Stadium. The new Yanks, benefit greatly from the AAFC folding as they picked up 18 players from the New York Yankees of the AAFC. Red Strader, who also coached the AAFC’s Yankees becomes the coach of the Yanks. The new look Yanks, opened the season on the West Coast beating the San Francisco 49ers 21-17 in the Niners first NFL game. Following a 45-28 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, the Yanks earned a 44-21 win over the Detroit Lions in the Yankee Stadium debut. The Yanks played terrific football in the first two months of the season, winning six of their first seven games. However, following a bye week the Yanks went into a tailspin losing four straight. The Yanks would finish the season with a 51-14 win over the Baltimore Colts, posting a record of 7-5 good for third place in the National Conference.

1951: Coach Red Strader is hospitalized in June due to a heart problem. In August Strader would be dismissed by Owner Ted Collins, after he refused to give assurances his health problems would not interfere with his coaching duties. Strader would later sue for wrongful termination and won his $10,000 salary plus $1,451 in legal expenses. The Yanks now led by Jimmy Phelan would struggle all season, going winless through their first nine games, with two ties included. The Yanks lone win of the season would come on December 2nd, a 31-28 road win against the Green Bay Packers. Two weeks later on December 16th the Yanks would lost at home to the New York Giants 27-17. It would be their final game. Following a 1-9-2 season, the NFL would buy the team from Ted Collins, and sell the franchise a group of businessmen from Texas who moved the team to Dallas for the 1952 season.
