Willie O’Ree makes history as he makes his debut with the Boston Bruins, becoming the first black player in the history of the National Hockey League. O’Ree is called up from the Quebec Aces, a Bruins minor league affiliate, for a game against the Montreal Canadiens at the Montreal Forum. The Bruins would win the game 3-0, as Willie O’Ree played in just two games before returning to the minors.
