The Carolina Panthers jump out to a 13-3 lead against the Atlanta Falcons at the Georgia Dome but lose in overtime 23-20. The Jacksonville Jaguars meanwhile open at home, losing to the Houston Oilers 10-3. In addition, the Raiders, in their return to Oakland, beat the San Diego Chargers 17-7.
