Hits: 95

This year is a great year for boxing. Many matches are planned to happen and after a strange boxing calendar last year, this year promises plenty of live boxing matches. Last year, there were some astonishing matches and debuts – Kahshad Elliot, but this year may hold some surprises.

Many punters are also looking forward to upcoming boxing matches, since last year there wasn’t much to bet on. But this year, you can expect some great odds and bets to occur. Many betting sites are offering and anticipating the biggest boxing matches for this year. For example, in the upcoming fight Lomachenko vs Lopez, the Betfair odds are 1/4 in favor of Loma to overtake Lopez. But, different sites offer different odds, but let’s take a look at the biggest matches to look forward to this year.

Canelo Alvarez vs Gennady Golovkin III

This is a potential fight for 2021 that fans are anticipating, and for a reason. This fight – Alvarez vs Golovkin III – is the third one between two of the best pound-for-pound fighters and it all starts in 2017. However, even though this is a highly anticipated fight, we still have to wait a bit because both of these fighters have mandatory challengers – Kamil Szeremeta and Billy Joe Saunders.

Terence Crawford vs Errol Spence Jr.

This match is still to be announced by it is highly anticipated. Spence Jr had a serious car crash in October 2019 and we are still not sure whether he will be ready to fight Crawford. However, that hasn’t stopped Crawford from talking to social media in order to engage in some trash talk in an old-fashioned way in order to hype up the fight.

Vasyl Lomachenko vs Mikey Garcia

We are all looking forward to this potential match of Lomachenko and Garcia, which is rumored to be in New York early in 2021. This match of 12 rounds offers both WBA and WBC belts up for grabs and the winner will become the Unified Lightweight Champion of the World. And for Lomachenko a few other titles are on the line, too, such as the WBA Super World Lightweight Championship.

Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua

This fight is probably the main event of the year that we are all anticipating. Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua match is supposed to be in spring this year, and this fight will see the WBA Super World Heavyweight Championship, IBO, IBF, WBC title, and the WBO World Heavyweight Championship on the line. These two long-term rivals will compete this year for the title of the Undisputed Heavyweight of the World, a title that no boxer has been able to claim in the last several decades. However, before going against each other, the Gypsy King will have to fight against Deontay Wilder first. While Joshua has had a mandatory fight against challenger Kubrat Pulev.

Ryan Garcia vs Gervonta Davis

Both fighters want this fight, and it is bound to happen this year. Davis provided us with a violent knockout of Leo Santa Cruz while Garcia stopped Luke Campbell with a heavy body punch, and this fight will be a must-see. This victory of Garcia has proven that he is more than just an Instagram celebrity, and Davis, too has demonstrated immense marketability and some amazing power. Both fighters are passionate, offensive-minded with life-changing power, so we should all be excited about this match and its odds.

Caleb Plant vs David Benavidez

Even though Plant is unable to fight the Canelo, he still makes it to the fight against a two-time WBC super middleweight champion David Benavidez. Both fighters have bad blood between them and it makes sense to pair them sooner than later. Plus, this fight would be a great clash of styles with Plant’s speed and ability and Benavidez’s bludgeoning combination of punches.

Jose Ramirez vs Josh Taylor

This junior welterweight clash between two champions is etched in stone and it is going to happen in spring 2021. Ramirez is a WBC and WBO champion and Taylor is an IBF and WBA titleholder and both of them have successfully wiped out the rest of their challengers in their dvision. Fans are really anticipating this fight with great excitement because both fighters have great success behind them. Taylor was excellent in the World Boxing Super Series by defeating Ryan Martin and Ivan Baranchyk. Also, Ramirez has won the WBC title by defeating Amir Imam in 2018 and Maurice Hooker in 2019.

The year 2021 is going to be an exciting one for all box fans and fighters. The matches are slowly coming together, even though some of the anticipated champions still have their challengers to defeat. Despite that, it is certainly going to be fun watching all those fights happen.
