Stanley Cup Finals

Red Wings in 7

The easy storyline is young versus old as the Red Wings are a team that seems used to winning as they seek their fourth Stanley Cup since 1997. While, the Penguins core players are barely old enough to legal drink the champagne that will flow from the silver grail that’s sets up on the rings of honor listing the legendary champs of the past. However, a look at those rings and you will see that some of the key players on the Red Wings are not there, as the Wings who won the Cup in 2002 are not the exactly the same team as youngsters like Henrik Zetterberg and Johan Franzen were not there back then. While, Nicklas Lidstrom now wears the “C” that Steve Yzerman graced for two decades. However, do not underestimate the veterans on the Wings looking for one last taste of glory, as the spotlight in the Finals is brighter then any light the young Penguins have ever seen. The key to this series could be goaltending, as Chris Osgood, and Marc-Andre Fleury will be the keys to the series as the two highest scoring teams face off. Look for the goals to be a plenty as Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin seem unshakable by the light, but the Red Wings have many more scoring options that could answer back. This one will be as good as advertised and will be good for the NHL, and selling the game. It’s hard to tell who the loser will be in fact there may not be a loser in a match up that looks this good. It has seven games written all over it., in fact don’t be surprised if several games go to overtime, with the final game being won by Conn Smythe winner Johan Franzen in overtime.
