Benches Clear In Nationals Park

Friday night saw NL East opponents play their second game in a four game series in D.C.  At times inner-division rivalries can lack spark depending on each team’s situation, and relationship on and off the diamond.  There seems to be no question that currently that the Nationals and Mets do not like each other.

The Nats have hit a New York player 4 times in the span of two games, culminating with Francisco Lindor getting beamed in the face by a Steve Cishek pitch.  Led by manager Buck Showalter, the Metropolitans bench and bullpen cleared to back their shortstop.

Lindor left the game, but thankfully has cleared concussion protocol.  The Mets rallied around the situation, and won the contest 7-3.  New addition Max Scherzer gave the away club 6 strong innings, and has spurred the team from Queens to two wins from their first two games.

The budding rivalry will continue Saturday night as Chris Bassitt is scheduled to take the bump for the Mets vs. Joan Adon representing the Nationals.
