For Whom The Bell Tolls
Joel Embiid has established himself as an MVP candidate this season, and last night was proof. The 76ers moved to 29-19 on the season with a 105-87 win over the rudderless Lakers.
LA came into the game on an East Coast road trip, but played Thursday’s contest without LeBron James due to knee soreness. Anthony Davis attempted to curtail the King’s loss, and did have a rather padded stat sheet, but he was no match for Embiid. Davis was in and out of the game with what looked to be an issue with his hand. Playing through pain, and being injured has been a constant issue for Davis this season.
Embiid and the 76ers were in cruise control for virtually the whole game. The big man from Cameroon dished off 7 assists, and was helped out by Tobias Harris’ 23 points. Georges Niang also contributed with 14 points off the bench.
As for the Lakers, they are now 24-25 on the year, and will need to somehow find a way to right their season before it becomes too late.
