Lakers Break Grizzlies Streak, Amidst On Court Skirmish

On Friday night in Los Angeles the Memphis Grizzlies had their 11-game win streak broken by LeBron James and the Lakers.

Memphis came into the game at 31-13, having built a 5.5 game lead over the Pelicans in the Southwest standings. While L.A. sits in the bottom of the Pacific division. However, on Friday the Lakers pulled off a seemingly improbable comeback as they were down by 1 point with 13.2 seconds left. Dennis Schröder completed a 3-point play off a steal with only 7.6 seconds left to give LA the lead, and the win.

Russell Westbrook led L.A. with 29 points off the bench, while Ja Morant had 22 for Memphis. Other than Schröder late game heroics, the night will be remembered for a half-time skirmish between Dylan Brooks, Ja Morant, Ja Morant’s father, and Shannon Sharpe. Ultimately, cooler heads prevailed, but it was interesting to say the least to view the on-court kerfuffle.

The Lakers will now attempt, once again, to right their season with 2 wins in a row on Sunday night, as they’ll travel to Portland to take on the struggling Blazers.
