No Sale

When the baseball season finally begins after quarantines of coronavirus pass, the Boston Red Sox will be without their ace, as they announced Thursday that Chris Sale will need Tommy John surgery on his left elbow. After being one of the top pitchers in the game in 2018, Sale struggled in 2019, with the highest ERA of his career at 4.40, while posting a 6-11 record. Sale has had arm issues creep up several times late in seasons, as he posted his seventh straight season with 200 or more strikeouts in 2019. The surgery to replace a torn elbow ligament usually takes more than a year to recover, placing Sale’s return to the Red Sox likely in the middle of 2021.
